Artificial intelligence has stormed the art world, sparking excitement, curiosity, as well as skepticism and controversy. In this talk, we will explore common concerns and misunderstandings around AI art and take a closer look at how some of these works are created. What is the role of creativity, authorship and the creative practice, and how they shape the way we value these works?
Through selected examples we initiate a critical shift towards an informed and thoughtful positioning on AI art and its future place in the art world, searching for value beyond the hype.
Hanna Sipos is a Doctoral Researcher from the University of Basel, Switzerland, currently conducting fieldwork as a Visiting Researcher at Aalto University.
