Tuija Lappalaisen Nykytaidetila Kutomolla 2.10.2026 ensi-iltaan tulevan teoksen Nowhere is left untouched by its dark presence avoimissa harjoituksissa työryhmä tutkii teosprosessin materiaaleja ja scoreja, minkä jälkeen avataan keskustelu teoksen teemoista.
Nowhere is left untouched by its dark presence piirtää näkymiä ruumiillisuudesta erilaisten tiedostamattomien vaikutusten, virtausten ja sekoittumisten paikkana. Teos tarkastelee tästä ajasta nousevia kysymyksiä hallitsemattomasta ja siihen liittyvästä kokemuksellisuudesta tavalla, joka rehottaa ja läikkyy moninaisena – kerroksellisia yhteyksiä sisällään pitäen.
Lappalaisen uusi näyttämöteos kytkeytyy filosofi Timothy Mortonin ekologiseen ajatteluun, jossa elollinen ja eloton, organismit, materiaalit ja ympäristöt kietoutuvat toisiinsa. Mortonin dark ecology hahmottaa tätä kokemuksena, joka on samanaikaisesti läheinen, outo ja hallitsematon.
Kolmen esiintyjän monisuuntaisten halujen, vastarinnan ja vierauden yhteyksissä höyryävä näyttämö avautuu hämärärajaisuuksille kostean ja kuivan välisen jännitteen paineistamassa tilassa ja kysyy, mitä ruumis voi puhua tästä kaikesta?

During the open rehearsals of Tuija Lappalainen’s Nowhere is left untouched by its dark presence, which premieres on 2.10.2026 at Contemporary Art Space Kutomo, the working group will engage with materials and scores developed throughout the creation process. The session concludes with a discussion on the themes of the work.
Nowhere is left untouched by its dark presence depicts corporeality as a site of diverse unconscious influences, flows, and entanglements. The work examines questions emerging from the present moment concerning the uncontrollable and its experientiality, in a mode that proliferates and spills over into multiplicity – while retaining layered interconnections.
Lappalainen’s new stage work engages with philosopher Timothy Morton’s ecological thinking, in which living and non-living beings, organisms, materials, and environments are inextricably intertwined. Morton’s concept of dark ecology approaches this as an experience that is at once intimate, uncanny, and ungovernable.
Steaming within the entanglements of three performers’ multidirectional desires, resistance, and estrangement, the stage opens to the indeterminacies in a space pressurized by the tension between wetness and dryness and asks: what can the body speak of all this?
