The band built its reputation in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. underground scene during the rise of hardcore punk in the early 1980s. Often credited as one of the key acts that helped bridge heavy metal and punk, The Obsessed earned the respect of genre-defining contemporaries such as Black Flag, Bad Brains, and Minor Threat. Their raw energy, uncompromising attitude, and thunderous sound have led many to describe them as “America’s Motörhead.” Scott “Wino” Weinrich’s unmistakable vocals and legendary guitar work have left a lasting mark on the world of heavy music, continuing to inspire generations of musicians and fans alike.
